Reader beware: This is a long post!
This has been a pretty busy month for us, and March has slipped away from me in the blog world. Backtracking to March 2nd, Sofie and Jackson’s birthday, we just celebrated at home and opened gifts from extended family during Skype sessions with both sets of grandparents and my sister’s family. The twins ate dinner later than usual and were so tired by the time we finished that they wanted nothing to do with their cupcake… they just looked at it and cried! A few days later we had a little get together with a few families to celebrate some more, although we missed several of our friends who were sick that day. Thank goodness cold and flu season is coming to an end. Illness seems to have been everywhere these past few months. And knock on wood we have been on the healthy side lately!
Here’s what both babies are up to at 1 year old:
-Love riding/pushing their push toys around (thanks Nana and Papa for the gifts!).
-They like stacking rings and putting blocks through their shape sorter… they are getting pretty good at it.
-When asked they can usually identify their own and/or mommy or daddy’s head, eyes, nose, tongue teeth, ears, fingers, and toes.
-They love being outdoors. We go for lots of walks and wagon rides. Pretty soon it will be too hot for that so we are trying to take advantage of the beautiful Florida Spring weather.
-Take 1 or 2 naps a day… it just depends. We are in that funky transition stage where sometimes they need 2 naps and sometimes they need 1.
-Are sleeping about 11.5-12 hours straight at night.
-They drink rice milk, soy milk, and Lactaid (a lactose-free milk product).
Here’s what Sofie is up to at 1 year old:
-Just starting to walk a lot
-Is a total mama’s girl
-Has a little internal alarm clock set for 6:15-6:45 a.m. regardless of what time she goes to bed at night. She almost always gets put to bed first at about 6:45 at night and is the first one up in the morning.
-Her latest new words are shoes and nana (for banana).
-She’s kind of a picky eater in terms of finger foods, but she's getting better. She’d live on crackers, cheerios, and goldfish if we’d let her. She also really likes spaghetti and any kind of baby cereal. Avocados are still her absolute favorite food.
-Loves getting on her rocking horse by herself and riding.
Here’s what Jackson is up to at 1 year old:
-He’s full of energy and 100% boy.
-A friend of mine has named him “alpha twin.” He definitely thinks he runs the show.
-Still absolutely loves books… having them read to him or just sitting down and flipping through pages.
-Loves Elmo. He’s never seen Elmo on t.v. so I guess this comes from the few Elmo books we have.
-His newest words are Elmo, shoes, ball, and nana (banana). By far the clearest and most accurately pronounced word in his vocabulary is Elmo (besides mama and dada).
We also co-hosted a couples baby shower for our friends Chad and Emily this month. It was a “sip and dip” fondue party… lots of fun!

Last weekend we had a company come out to clean our air ducts and do tune ups on both of our AC units. Surprise… they found mold in our ducts… NOT what we were expecting! So gross! Five hours later, everything was clean and mold-free. Basically, they had to run an acid wash through the ducts to make sure they killed it all.
We are busy with house projects right now. When we moved Sofie to her own room in November, we kind of just placed her crib and a chair in an empty bedroom and left it at that. We are currently “finishing” her room. We are also getting ready to weed through our upstairs bonus room which has just been used for storage since we moved in. We are going to repaint it and turn it in to a playroom once we get that room cleared out and all the carpet in our house replaced. I’ll post before and after pics once things get finished.
