I was a little nervous about the drive, but the kids did awesome in the car. It probably ended up taking us about 11 hours each way, with stops. I don't recall Jackson getting fussy once... he does so well in the car! Sofie had a few fussy moments when she got tired, but all in all, we have no complaints about the driving. The drive through the Keys was gorgeous! It was sooooo nice to finally drive somewhere when we travel... much easier and less stressful than flying (oh ya, and cheaper, too!). Luckily, we were able to avoid rush hour in Miami and any major traffic on the 2 lane highway that connects all of the Keys. As usual, the kids weren't great sleepers in the pack-and-plays at our resort, but we have come to fully expect and accept that :)
Here are the kiddos "trying" to help me pack. It really wasn't packing, but more along the lines of I put something in, they take something out.
Chillaxin in the stroller in front of Sloppy Joe's, probably one of the most well-known and "touristy" bars in Key West. Brian and I were able to go out one night after the kids went to bed and it was fun people-watching at this place!
Jackson being goofy with his daddy's hat on...
Hey, give me that hat back!
Cheeseburger Challenge. Yes, he ate it all and got a free beer.
The whole crew...
At the Key West Aquarium...
Sofie REALLY wanted to go swimming with the sharks. See sign above.
Jackson touching...... something.
Hard for a 1-year-old to understand!
Sofie and her Grammie :)
Fist pump?
Sofie checking out all the plants.
The Truman House... Truman's "Little White House." Very interesting! We took turns pushing the kids around in the stroller outside (while they attempted to nap a bit) while the four of us toured this in pairs.
Self-explanatory.
Swimming at our hotel.
Snorkel trip out to the largest coral reef in North America.
Getting ready to take the plunge...
This is a lighthouse on the coral reef. We were 7 miles off the coast of Key West here.
The kids were troopers and stayed on the bottom deck in the shade most of the time, but they got to come up top toward the end of the trip. They loved that part!
Trying on the flippers.
Sofie loving it!
Jackson just wanted to run around and carry a flipper.
Pappy and Sofie...
Pulling back in to shore... Jackson looks like he's ready to jump overboard here!
Iconic Key West sunset...
We ate Key Lime pie at least once a day!
Jackson giving Sofie rides on the luggage cart while we were packing to go home.
