We are Home!

We are home from the hospital now, but we did have a few minor bumps in the road. We are just glad that overall the babies are so healthy, especially given their small sizes! It started when Jackson's oxygen level dropped and he lost his color in the nursery on Friday. The nurses got him breathing again quickly, but it was still enough to have him hooked up to monitors the rest of the day. Later in the day, Jackson had another little breathing spell. All his labwork and cardio consult showed that there was no sign of an infection or a heart problem, so the doctors are pretty sure that his spells were caused by choking due to some reflux since he had been pretty spitty.

Little 4.5 pound Sofie also failed her carseat test, but later passed the next day when they put special inserts in it (Jackson's seat needed the same). For the carseat test, each baby had to sit in their carseat for 90 minutes while being hooked to monitors that read their oxygen levels and heart rates. Sofie also had to start some supplementation because she had lost more weight than the doctors liked to see. Fortunately, she made progress by the time we saw the pediatrician on Monday!

We finally got to come home from the hospital on Saturday evening. It was nerve-racking bringing the twins home, but it is SO nice to be HOME!!! We have settled in, and are so thankful that my mom is here. Without her, I don't think Brian and I would be getting any sleep at all!!! Feeding and diaper changing take up the majority of our time, but we are enjoying every second of it :)

Here are a few recent pictures of the babies:

All dressed to leave the hospital!

Ready to go home after 5 days in the hospital.

Finally at home - Believe it or not, things were so hectic in the hospital that this was my first time actually holding BOTH twins together.

Nana York gives Jackson his first sponge bath.

Sofie got one too.

One week old!!!

All snuggled up with their pacifiers... Jackson especially likes his!
